Meccano Model Exhibition 1992

The club’s 14th annual exhibition was held on Saturday 17th October and was undoubtedly more successful than last year.
This year’s venue was Christ Church Hall, Shooters Hill, and although rather on the small side for a Meccano exhibition, it had the advantage of no hire charge, in return for giving the church half the day’s takings. Also there were ample tables, avoiding the expense of hiring.
They started filling with models from quite early on, and well before the opening time of 10:30am, all available space was filled to capacity with a great variety of models. At least 16 members exhibited, and we also had one or two guests. In addition to the Meccano models, we also had a magnificent display of vintage Meccano products of all kinds mounted by Francis Paine. Three dealers, John Linder, John Longbon and Mike Rhoades between them had a wide range of new and second-hand Meccano sets, parts and literature on sale.
The show was well attended by the public; the hall was quite crowded at times and a lot of interest was aroused. Excellent refreshments were provided by hard-working members of the Christ Church Hall & Social Committee — yet another advantage of using this venue!
