Meccano Model Exhibition 1994

Well, we certainly couldn’t complain about the weather for our exhibition this year, for Saturday 8th October turned out to be a fine, sunny autumn day.
Compared to last year, which got off to a slow start, this year there were people actually queuing to come in before opening time! Apart from the usual slack period around lunchtime, the attendance was good all day, with visitors showing a great interest in our models and staying for a long time. Some folk had travelled from afar to our show; I spoke to a couple who had come from Colchester and a gentleman who had come (by train) from near Sherborne in Dorset!
We had a good turnout of members and their models and all the available table space was well filled with models of all shapes and sizes. For the record, the following members exhibited at least one model: Jim Arthur, Ike Ascher, Adrian Ashford, Stan Bedford, John Cowdery, Peter Clay, Andrew Couzens, Geoff Davison, Tim Everest, George Foard, Paul Heather, Eric Humphries, Robin Lake, Nigel and Martin Pope, David Smithers, Len Spink, Tim Surtell and Dave Taylor. It was also good to see former member Eddie Oatley again, and also Colin Cohen from South Africa, who paid us a lengthy visit, taking lots of photos and camcorder shots. Colin even lent a hand with the clearing up afterwards! Thanks Colin, and also to all those who willingly stayed behind to help with that impossible task.
Last, but not least, I must not forget the Christ Church Hall & Social Committee, who once again did an excellent job of providing everybody with refreshments for the day.
