Meccano Model Exhibition 1996

The club’s annual exhibition took place on Saturday 12th October at Christ Church Hall, Shooters Hill.
We had a very good display, with all the available table space filled with a wide variety of models, including an interesting collection of Meccano products over the years from Francis Paine’s extensive collection. Our dealer members seemed to do a good trade in new and second hand Meccano. It was a pity that the public attendance was down on last year’s, though those who did come showed considerable interest in the models, many staying for quite a long time.

For the record, members who exhibited this year were Les Maher, Dave Taylor, Len Spink, John Gay, Jim Arthur, Andrew Couzens, David Smithers, John Cowdery, Keith Patey, Geoff Carter, Chris Warrell, Paul Heather, Peter Clay, Tim Surtell, Francis Paine, George Foard, Robin Lake and Adrian Ashford. (If I’ve missed anybody, it’s because you did not return your slip!) It was also a pleasure to welcome once again former SELMEC member Eddie Oatley. Thanks to everyone who exhibited and helped to put on a good show.
Many thanks also to the willing band who helped set up the evening before and clear up afterwards, and to the Christ Church Hall & Social Committee who once again provided excellent refreshments.
