Come and try your hand at the Lightning Leap buzz-wire game, one of many interactive models built with Meccano that SELMEC member Tim Surtell will be showing on the platform (or inside the station building if the weather is inclement) at Swanage Railway Station to raise funds for Foal Farm Animal Rescue Centre.

The heritage railway attraction will be operating their full-size steam passenger trains along the five and a half miles of line from Norden to Corfe Castle and down to the Victorian seaside town of Swanage.
It will be the first day of their Autumn Steam Gala, so expect to see and travel behind their home fleet of steam locomotives, along with a surprise visitor or two, and an interesting event timetable which features services from Swanage all the way to the River Frome on their ‘extension’ towards Worgret Junction. There will be on-site catering as well as facilities on their trains to keep you fed and watered, as well as trade stands at Swanage Station.
The line has stations at Corfe Castle and Harman’s Cross as well as a halt at Herston, on the outskirts of Swanage. The Whistlestop café is located at Corfe Castle plus there are refreshment buffets at Norden and Swanage stations with picnic tables at most of the stations so you can soak up the atmosphere while enjoying a picnic.
The station shop at Swanage is well stocked with souvenirs, railway books and DVDs, a large selection of items for model railways as well as clothing, railway prints and gifts for all ages.
