Semaphore Signal
Built by Tim Surtell in June 2014
One of the earliest forms of fixed railway signal is the semaphore, the position of its arm and the colour of its lamp indicating the status of the line ahead.
This model satisfies the criteria for the April 2014 railway-themed Secretary’s Challenge at the North East London Meccano Club as it will fit diagonally inside a 4½” cube.
Built in around an hour, it is a rough representation and has some errors, but it does include a working white LED lamp powered by batteries.
