The Spanish Knight
Built by Tim Surtell in March 2012
This model of a Spanish knight on his horse was designed by Andreas Konkoly and has been built from instructions given by Colin Hoare in the February 2012 issue of Runnymede Meccano Guild Magazine.
While the horse and knight generally follow the original design, the turntable has been redesigned to be more compact and to include an electric motor.
Version 2
With the yellow plastic plates developing cracks, 2½” strips have been added all the way around to add strength.
Version 3 — March 2017
With the yellow plastic plates now beyond repair, they have been replaced by new flexible plates. I have also added a coin slot accepting any coin and a one minute timer implemented using a 555 monostable circuit. Note that the motor requires only 60mA to run, so it can be driven directly from the 555 output.
