4–6–0 Steam Locomotive and Tender
Built by Guy Loveridge in September 2013
A model built from the contents of a set 10, which uses most of the parts of a set 10. The model is my own design — it is not based on a specific class of locomotive, it is simply a typical 4–6–0 locomotive.
Features include working pistons and valve gear, and working reversing mechanism controlled by a lever in the cab. The brakes work, controlled by a lever in the cab. The smokebox door is hinged, the front bogie swivels and the buffers have springs.
At first the model was motorised, but the motor seemed to be under too much strain because the 5’ long model is very heavy, so I decided to take the motor out.
