Lunar Bug
Built by Chris Warrell in June 2016 for the Space Exploration Secretary’s Challenge
This model came from the Meccano Magazine Quarterly for January 1976. This is the same edition in which my plea for people to join my proposed Meccano club (which became SELMEC) appeared, so it’s quite an appropriate model for this challenge, it being for our 40th anniversary meeting (I didn’t know that the model was in this MMQ when I chose the challenge, honest!)
It can be built from a set № 6 and I’ve built it more or less as per instructions, except that I’ve replaced the plastic and transparent plates with flexible ones. The model is not supposed to be based on any prototype, but has been inspired by the USA�s Apollo programme. Instructions for a Space Rocket from a set № 5 were also included in the same feature in the magazine.
