Motor Car Chassis
Built by Len Spink in October 2001
A modified version of a 1928 Meccano Motor Chassis.
In 1992 I was introduced to Meccano by David Smithers of the North East London Meccano Club. It was in 1931 as a lad of ten when I received my first Meccano set for a Christmas present. I well remember how much I admired this model, but had neither the parts, or know how to build it.
Sixty one years later I decided to build this chassis as my first model. This working model has a three speed and reverse gear box, friction clutch, internal expanding brakes to rear wheels, differential steering, front and rear lights, starting handle, and mock-up four cylinder engine, radiator and petrol tank.
