Road Compactor
Built by Brian Elvidge in September 2009
This is based on a Blaw-Knox original and was written up in the July 1969 issue of Meccano Magazine by Spanner.
This version of the model is slightly modified. The Power Drive motor is replaced by a modern silver motor from Dave Taylor (or can be obtained from other sources), with suitable reduction gearing added.
I also had trouble keeping the steering chain in position, and it is replaced by a heavy-duty belt drive to the front roller.
A fault with this model is in its use of large numbers of transparent plates, which become brittle and are not easy to replace or source.
