Road Locomotive
Built by Chris Smith in October 2002
Forty years ago these locomotives were a common sight on the roads in the United Kingdom, but they were rare elsewhere. Nowadays they have disappeared, but are the subject of considerable attention, because many have been preserved in museums and private collections where, for the most part, they are publicly exhibited.
There is a good deal of published literature about them and most Meccanomen have a clear idea of their general construction.
The pictured model is based on the Foster LR Class Road Locomotive and was designed by Mr. P. W. Bradley, of Espom (England).
