Automatic Crane Brake Mechanism
Built by Brian Leach in September 2017
This a variation on the Mechanisms Set manual back page model. It works using a differential which finds the path of least resistance. Initially it releases the brake as you turn the input and when there is equilibrium of resistance starts to turn the winding drum. The brake is a centre fork onto a rubber ring. The rubber ring rapidly perishes because it never fully disengages from the centre fork.
