The Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth

I originally designed this model for the Beavers (6–9 year old Scouts) of the 1st Liss Troop to build for a competition in late June 2012 at Gilwell Park, the Scout HQ in Essex, where it aroused much interest.
That model was subsequently displayed at the Spinnaker Tower itself in late September 2012 as part of an exhibition of Notable Towers around the World.
Shown here is the Mk II version with all the ribs and struts now included.
A ribald comment overheard at the October 2012 Holy Trinity Meccano Club meeting (from one who didn’t know the Spinnaker Tower):
“What’s this, a pregnant penguin?"
