Tracked Gun Tractor and Gun
Built by Brian Elvidge in September 2009 for the Military Models Secretary’s Challenge
This model was illustrated twice in the Meccano Magazine in 1974, and won a prize at a Henley exhibition in 1973. It was originally built entirely from the Meccano Army Multikit Set. This version is constructed from 1970s parts as the Army parts were not available to the builder.
The tracked carrier vehicle features drop-down ramps and movable tracks and could easily be motorised.
In terms of play value, the model is excellent — the gun fires ‘shells’, elevates and can be aimed, and there are two models in the bargain, all built from one set of limited parts.
