WheelPower Fairground Ride
Built by Santiago Plicio in November 2008
A new model of a ferris wheel with a variation in design from the traditional style. It is a high performance ride due to the fast speed achieved.
Eight gondolas or boats are supported sideways in the rotating wheel on a heavy-duty axis mounted in a tower of strong construction. The power unit inside the tower drives the wheel using a 133-tooth gear ring (part 180) fixed at the back of the rotating unit engaged with a pinion inside the ring.
A large flanged wheel at the back is also supported with a small pulley attached to the tower to give extra support and a well balanced upright position.
The front of the ride looks like a bridge and it has been decorated with lights and flags.
