Windmill

This is one of the models featured in the Easy Model-Building section of the May 1956 issue of Meccano Magazine.
It was built from a № 3 outfit of that period, with a Magic Motor to drive the sails. I’ve used one of the small black 6V motors, powered by two AA-sized cells. The drive to the sails is via a double reduction belt drive, using ordinary rubber bands, as I found there was not enough “give” in Meccano Driving Bands, which caused too much friction.
The windmill featured as model 3.11 in the 1962 2/3 manual is obviously a modified version of this model. It is also the model featured in the Elektrikit Manual, fitted with lights.
