Windmill Pump
Built by John Gillam in January 2005
Largely based on the the 1954–61 Instruction Manual model ref 7.12.
The most important modifications were to install an electric motor and to use a 5½” axle rod rather than a 5” to drive the vanes. This was necessary to stop the vanes from clipping the tower.
The model was also at the annual exhibition held on 15th October 2005 which was when the main photo was taken.
A version was taken to my workplace annual craft show held on 3rd and 4th November 2005 where it won a commendation.
This was a manually operated version as building safety regulations do not permit the use of untested electrical equipment. Unfortunately my clockwork and battery operated motors were not powerful enough to drive the model.
