Tipping Lorry
Built by Brian Elvidge in December 2022
This model of a tipping lorry with steering wheel remote control has been in my workshop since the Covid lockdowns, due to issues with the tipping ram construction. This was solved and the model rebuilt as shown.
The chassis of this lorry is similar to those shown before, but 9½” long, and uses a geared steering wheel to control the steering; this uses a 3:1 ratio with a corrective 19-tooth pinion.
The folding ram, tipping the body, is lifted by a hand wheel and gearing as shown. The red pressed steel cab comes from the 1970s Multikit sets.
