Hammerhead Crane
Built by Brian Elvidge in March 2023
This a modification of the Mini Blocksetting Crane, but the superstructure is one hole wider, and it uses a typical Meccano ball race turntable of two pulleys, a wheel flange, and a set of Meccano balls. The tower is 9½” tall and 3½” square and uses angle girders, braced girders, strip bracing, and plates as shown.
The crane section is based on single 25 hole strips, with bracing as shown, with two hand operated motions in the cabin; one the hoist, the other the crab trolley traverse.
The constructional details are clearly shown.
