Scammell’s First Mechanical Horse

Produced from 1930 until the end of WWII, this cab was coach-built and two variations were made. This one was built for the delivery market. The other version was made for the railway companies. It didn’t have doors and windows and a one piece vertical windscreen. Both models had Scammell’s ‘automatic coupling’ which allowed the driver to uncouple and recouple the trailers without getting out of the cab. The only problem was the passenger had to operate the trailer brakes!
