Scammell Scarab Mechanical Horse

This cab was all-steel in construction and had more comfort for the driver. It also had Scammell’s ‘automatic coupling’ and mechanical trailer brakes.
This model proved popular and was exported worldwide, with approximately 17,000 being made between 1948 to 1964. Some can be seen today working as tugs in yards moving trailers around.
All types of bodies were made. The one I saw had a Luton-style body which must have been fun to drive in windy weather!
