The Valiant Ship

Having two large fairground models which needed a bit of extra work, I decided to build a new model for the South East London Meccano Club’s September 2026 meeting.
It was after 9:00am on Sunday 30th August when I started to build it. I thought a different type of ship or boat with a curved hull will do fine.
I worked all day until about 4:00pm and by then the two sides of the model were already built and I joined both with the main deck. A few other details were already done and the following day I started with the bow of the ship. It was not easy as the hull was curved and this was straight or flat. However, I managed to do it and it was looking good.
Then I built a cabin which I bolted to the front deck and I also added a few of the smaller details such as a crane, a bell, masts and others.
On the third day I started with the rigging, cutting out of paper the shape of the sails which I then gave to my wife for her to sew in cloth. Three main sails were soon done and I attached them to the masts and rigging.
One side of the ship did have some areas in which I did not need to fill with all the parts as this model took me only three days to complete.
