Dragsters

“If you can turn you’re not going fast enough."
The new Xtreme dragster set includes a new pull-back motor but the model is not very good looking at all. Sue and I had already decided that we could improve on it and very soon we were aware that Chris was working along the same lines. I feel a challenge coming on!
I started building the first model for the proposed club challenge race, but it got a bit out of hand and far too heavy for the pull-bacl motor hidden under the V8. Instead, I decided to build it for looks using only 100% Meccano parts. The only things that don’t work for me are the back wheels. I am going to use something non-Meccano, me thinks…
…So, here it is in its current form — 100% Meccano parts.
While messing around building dragsters, I thought it would be fun to have a go at building a dragster hot rod. This one has a slightly smaller V6 engine and again is built entirely from Meccano parts. Too heavy to be a contender in any speed race, but it is a bit of fun.
Now I must start thinking about building one for speed…
