Experimental Gear Mechanism
Built by Peter Clay in September 2016
Three gears — the central one an idler — can be meshed together. The driven gears are on rods in Couplings which can be slid along Rods. The gears thus do not depend on standard hole spacing but can be any distance apart, this enables a great variety of distances from the driver, and of gear ratios to be obtained.
Unfortunately good meshing was difficult to achieve. More work needs to be done.
