Hammerhead Crane
Built by Bob Palmer in March 2012 for the Pocket Meccano Set X N Secretary’s Challenge
Built for the “Pocket Meccano Set x N” challenge, it uses 48 4½” narrow strips, so would require 24 pocket sets to build! There are no rods in the pocket set, so winding shafts were made up using angle brackets and long bolts.
The flat trunnions hanging at the rear are additional balancing weights as the 2½” x 1½” flexible plates, being plastic, were not heavy enough.
