Horizontal Rope Race Model
Built by Brian Leach in October 2013
The idea here is to have the model pulled along by rope fastened away from the model. It was raced at the 2013 exhibition and did not do too well. I think there were two reasons.
- The idler was not tensioned correctly.
- The main wheel should have been mounted nearer the ground.
It works by having a Wheel Flange in between two Face Plates. The Wheel Flange has a number of 6” Driving Bands around it to grip the rope. The idler is made out of many ¾" Washers. There must be a minimal gap between the Washers and the Face Plates or the rope will work its way out.
