The Building Bridges Secretary’s Challenge
This Challenge took place at our April 2009 Meeting
This Challenge was borrowed from the Christchurch Meccano Club in New Zealand. It was to build a bridge to have a clear span of 24½” (Theirs was 24” but we added the extra half inch to stop members plonking a 24½” Angle Girder down and calling it a bridge!)
Two tables were arranged exactly 24½” apart in the meeting room to display all the entries. Bridges could be of any shape and could be based on prototypes or members’ own designs.
