Forth Railway Bridge
Built by Ralph Laughton in April 2009 for the Building Bridges Secretary’s Challenge
Sue and I got a bit carried away with this Secretary’s Challenge!
This bridge was built from a partial plan published in the front of Geoff Wright’s book The Meccano Super Models. The original was designed to be built from MME parts. Our model is an interpretation of that plan using ‘modern’ Meccano strips — silver ones of course!
The train running through one of the cantilevers is a bit out of scale, but it illustrates the purpose of the structure.
At 16’ long, this is the largest model we have built to date (April 2009).
