March 2026 Meeting

Saturday 28 March 2026
12:00 noon – 5:00pm

Falconwood Community Centre
31–39 Falconwood Parade
Falconwood
London
DA16 2PG

This is one of our informal quarterly meetings where our members show off their latest Meccano creations.

Light refreshments will be available and our resident Meccano dealer Ted Muggridge will have new and used parts for sale.

At around 2:00pm we will have a short committee meeting, followed by the Model Tour in which members are invited to give a short talk about their models — in particular their entries for the Secretary’s Challenge!

You are welcome to come along to view the models and chat to our members. If you want to bring along a model of your own, we’d love to see it! Only if you attend our meetings regularly will you be asked to pay our annual subscription charge.

Please contact our Secretary Chris Warrell if you would like membership information, or just turn up at this meeting if you’re curious and are thinking of joining us.

The Zoo Secretary’s Challenge

This will be our fourth ‘Big Challenge’. The first one, in 2013, was to build trains to run on O gauge track; the second, in 2015, was to construct a model village, and the third, in 2017, was to build the London Underground map.

The idea for this Challenge comes from Cathy Warrell, and it is to build a zoo. You can build any number of models of animals and/or enclosures. Hopefully, we can build this into a zoo. We won’t specify a scale!

If anyone needs inspiration, take a look at the Noah’s Ark model from Michael Whiting at the International Meccano Model Show in 2012.
