Childrens’ Carousel

This was great fun to build, and is a good way of using up flanged sector plates. It contains forty eight of them. Having built the basic model, I realised I needed to add something for the children to ride on, so there are two railway engines, two aeroplanes, two speedboats and two jeeps, all arranged opposite one another in pairs to balance the model. They are deliberately built dumpy and cartoon-like, in bright and contrasting colours.
The model is powered with one of the modern small Meccano motors, heavily geared down, running off about 4V to give a suitable turning rate.
