MeccanOlympics Magic Motor Race Vehicle
Built by Brian Leach in June 2012 for the Olympic Games Secretary’s Challenge
For maximum speed and acceleration it has minimal weight, a high gear ratio, and no use of inefficient pulley drives.
In the race it did not get past the first heat. It was overtaken in the last 3 feet. I was gutted. The winning model used a trick seen two years ago of a rubber band straight to the Axle Rod of the driven wheels. This gives less acceleration than my model, but a very high top speed.
