MeccanOlympics Push-Of-War Vehicle
Built by Chris Fry in September 2011 for the Olympic Games Secretary’s Challenge
A preliminary example of a “Push of War” machine in readiness for the demonstration event our 2011 Meccano Show.
The model utilises a № 2 clockwork motor through a gear train of 3 x 4 x 4 x 4 = 192:1 reduction driving a rubber roller which presses against the two rubber drive rollers. The idea was that the drive rollers don’t need to be fixed to their axles where the torque would be high. The model only runs about 1’ on a full winding. Sadly there was nothing to pitch it against at the meeting.
October 2012
This model won a silver medal in the MeccanOlympics.
