MeccanOlympics Walking Model
Built by Brian Leach in October 2012 for the Olympic Games Secretary’s Challenge
A bronze medal model, which is nothing special as there were only 3 contestants!. It is a biped and works by using one foot at a time, the movement of the whole model is by rotary motion. Two Bush Wheels on each side are connected to a vertical rod attached to each foot.
The magic motor is rather underpowered for the task. Even with a 15:1 gear reduction, it only moves about 1’.
