Sports Car
Built by Chris Warrell in September 2007 for the Three Supports Secretary’s Challenge
From a 1950s № 4 set, with various modifications made:
- The back of the body has been changed from two pairs of obtuse angle brackets bolted together to a 2½” x 1½” flexible plate.
- The whole rear section has been lengthened by half an inch to move the seat back (and give the driver some room for his legs!)
- The front wheels have been moved forwards by half an inch to improve the steering and the steering column changed from a crank with grip to one without. This allows the end of this to slide in the slotted hole of an angle bracket giving a positive control. In the manual the grip of the crank rested in the gap between a pair of angle brackets and had a tendency to jump out.
- Other minor alterations include adding a floor and extra fixings for the front cowl/radiator.
