Helicopter

This mini-model was one of several that came with a larger quantity of Meccano bought on eBay. Most of the boxes were unopened; all the bags of parts inside were still sealed. Normally I would simply have wielded the scissors and emptied out all the parts into my general collection. For once I decided to make the models according to their instructions. The mix of ‘non-standard’ colours and the number of plastic parts perhaps helped with this decision.
Assembly wasn’t too difficult, although the drawings had to be studied closely to avoid putting a bolt through the hole next to the one it was supposed to occupy, for example. There were also a few fiddly bits where a third hand would have helped. Overall, I was pleased how quickly the models went together, and how well they captured the look of the real thing with just a handful of parts.
