Electric Dairy Van

A dairy van, because the milkman delivered cream, butter and cheese — and much else — as well as milk.

Am I the only member of the club to have built two milk floats? This one is based on Dinky toy № 30V. I sold my Dinky version in about 1960 for ninepence to a school-friend’s younger brother; I wonder if he still has it.

I shook the model for loose bolts when I finished it. It took a couple of minutes to find the offending part. But milk floats are supposed to rattle. How else were they to wake you up at six in the morning?

I couldn’t resist adding the second photograph, which shows the Electric Dairy Van at the end of the line of models I took to the January 2025 meeting. Some were built specifically for the Dinky Toys Secretary’s Challenge; others were ones I had built in earlier years, also based on Dinky Toys or in a couple of instances on other toy brands. By the way, the milk crates are not L**o bricks; I 3D-printed them.
