Events

We hold four club meetings and a public exhibition each year — our AGM is in January, the Geoff Carter Cup and Adrian Ashford Award competitions are held biennially in June, and our Meccano Show is usually in October.

We also attend many free local events and festivals, so keep checking this page to find out where you can see us next!

Foal Farm Country Festival 2024

Foal Farm’s biggest fundraising event of the year included a dog show, arena shows with their animals, stalls, live music, food, drinks, inflatables, kids’ activities and more, including our Meccano display and Make It With Meccano workshop.

Dartford’s Big Day Out 2024

Welling 2024 Model Show and Open Day

Welling Model Club were guest exhibitors at our Meccano Show in 2022, so we’re reciprocating and showing some of our Meccano models at their Model Show and Open Day this year! The main attraction will be their members’ models of figures, aircraft, cars, military vehicles, vignettes, dioramas and more.

Later in the meeting Alan Wenbourne gave a talk on the development and operating principles of the Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) and showed us his computer-controlled model of Volkeswagen’s version of the DSG.

Welling Sparkle 2023

We’ll be showing models at Welling’s celebration of Christmas, Welling Sparkle, again this year. In addition to our Meccano display and other activities for kids there will be a fabulous Christmas market with gift stalls, seasonal food, mulled wine and hot chocolate, plus live entertainment and, of course, Santa!

Meccano Show 2023

Our 44th annual show included the participation of exhibitors with hobbies other than Meccano, such as model railways and electronics, plus our usual Make It With Meccano workshop and Meccano Creative Challenge.
