September 2022 Meeting

Saturday 10 September 2022
12:00 noon – 5:00pm

Falconwood Community Centre
31–39 Falconwood Parade
DA16 2PG

This is one of our informal quarterly meetings where our members show off their latest Meccano creations.

Light refreshments will be available and our resident Meccano dealer Ted Muggridge will have new and used parts for sale.

At around 2:00pm we will have a short committee meeting, followed by the Model Tour in which members are invited to give a short talk about their models — in particular their entries for the Secretary’s Challenge!

At around 3:30pm Alan Wenbourne will give a talk on the subject of Radio Control and Meccano, sharing his experience of using two channel R/C in his models over the last 40 years. This will be followed by a demonstration of the system components and their application to Meccano models.

You are welcome to come along to view the models and chat to our members. If you want to bring along a model of your own, we’d love to see it! Only if you attend our meetings regularly will you be asked to pay our annual subscription charge.

Please contact our Secretary Chris Warrell if you would like membership information, or just turn up at this meeting if you’re curious and are thinking of joining us.

The BBC Centenary Secretary’s Challenge

This Challenge celebrates the centenary of the BBC, which was formed on 18th October 1922 as the British Broadcasting Company (it became a corporation in 1927).

You can build a model on a subject that celebrates the BBC — John Gay has got ahead of the game with his entry for the Football Secretary’s Challenge!
